Kids Yoga Class 9-13 years

Description:

This yoga class for kids will focus on games and mindfulness, using creativity and fun.

What does it include?

  • Breath Work and Mindfulness
  • Warm Up
  • Sun Salutation
  • Theme Poses
  • Game
  • Challenge Poses (partner or group work)
  • Savasana 

To begin, each child will be invited to lie down on their mats, close their eyes, and focus on their breath. After a few minutes of mindful breathing, the class will then transition into games that will help the participants to become familiar with various yoga poses and explore their creativity through fun.

Next, the class will focus on mindful breathing and visualisation. Each child will be invited to find a comfortable position, close their eyes, and focus on their breath. They will be guided through a visualisation exercise, such as imagining themselves in a peaceful place, like a beach or a forest. This exercise will help the children to become more aware of their body and mind and will encourage a sense of relaxation.

Finally, the class will end with a relaxation exercise, by lying on their mats, closing their eyes, and focusing on their breath. They will be guided through a body scan exercise, where they focus on different body parts, such as their feet, legs, hands, arms, torso, leaving feeling more connected in mind and body.

Instructor / Therapist Bio

Sallie has been working with children in schools since 2010, and has a strong passion to support children with their emotional health, that teaches them toolkits to express authentically.

Sallie has been practicing yoga for over 10 years, and during the pandemic trained to be a children’s yoga and mindfulness instructor as this is where her passion lies.

Yoga and Mindfulness for children of all ages, can help support the nervous system, and rebalance mind and body, which can reduce anxiety and bring about a calmer state from within. It can also help promote self-regulation along with many other benefits that have a long lasting effect and has been shown to improve self-esteem, self-expression and confidence.
