90 Minute Ayurvedic Marma Abhyanga Massage

Description:

Marma Abhayanga is an Ayurvedic massage technique that focuses on stimulating marma points, which are specific energy points located throughout the body. They are believed to affect the flow of energy throughout the body and to be connected to the body’s physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing.

The massage is intended to stimulate the body’s natural healing process, improve circulation, and reduce stress, and is based on the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, a natural medical system that originated in India roughly 3,000 years ago.

What does it include?

The massage is tailored to the individual’s dosha and the herbalised oils used are chosen based on the individual’s needs. The massage is beneficial for increasing the body’s natural healing power, improving circulation, and providing an overall sense of wellbeing.

This massage treatment supports the releasing of physical and emotional blockages, helping to eliminate toxins and regenerate the whole body for renewed health and vitality. *The Chinese call it “chi”, the Japanese “qi”, Egyptians “ka”.

During your treatment Miranda will work with the breath so that your nervous system can let go of stress. Combined with pressure applied to your marma points this will promote a healthy flow of energy or prana* – a Sanskrit word that translates as “vital life force.”

Improved blood circulation and warming up your tissues results in increased absorption of nutrients and supply of oxygen to muscles, promoting mitochondrial biogenesis intensifying the benefits of your massage, whilst your skin is nourished with oils. The treatment promotes healing and strengthening of the body.

The massage session also includes dosha-specific nutritional advice.
